PAX '11: GM Cares Little
LARPing In A Safe Environment - Lance Icarus
Here's our second PAX sketch about our time at the Wizards of the Coast booth, the guys who make the latest Dungeons and Dragons games. They had this awesome life sized game board and a D20 as big as your head! You'd take a card of a pre made character with a list of attacks you could do and your initiative count. You'd line up in order of initiative and start an encounter with a giant awesome bone dragon of death. Then it was up to the team to take down this awesome dragon of doom and in doing so, get a free poster!
So I'm in front of the line and step onto the map, but the GM guy says "Hey, you can't get on here yet!" I almost slipped into my old tabletop ways by telling him what my initiative stats and my attack bonuses were like the guy who helps make D&D wouldn't know the stats of the character he probably made. Luckily I stopped myself and realized he just meant that they weren't completely done with the previous group. Still though, I'm a freaking Ranger man. Initiative's kinda our thing.
So yeah, one more day left to go and then we return to our regular update schedule full of clean line art and color. See you Sunday for the last in our PAX sketch series!
